5 steps on 'How to Build a Fire Pit'

1Pick your location

Your fire pit needs to sit on a sturdy level base. Once you have identified your location remove any sod with your shovel.

2Make sure ground is level

Using your carpenter's level make sure the ground is level. If not level use your shovel to remove more sod until level.

3Place gravel for your fire pit to sit on

Place a thin layer of gravel for the fire pit to sit on. Again, use your carpenter’s level to be sure it is level. Adjust with more or less gravel.

4Build base for fire pit

Make a ring out of twelve masonry blocks. Stagger the blocks on the next row and continue until you have three levels.

5Place your fire bowl inside the blocks

Place the fire pit insert inside the top row of blocks using the lip to hold it in place.
